Ingredients for Snickers Candy Popcorn
- Butter
- Mini marshmallows
- Kettle corn (may substitute popcorn or even caramel corn)
- Kosher salt
- Snickers candy bars
How to Make Snickers Crunch and Munch
Pour the kettle corn into a very large mixing bowl. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat; let the butter cook until it is golden brown and has a nutty aroma.
Add the mini marshmallows to the melted butter, then remove the pot from the heat, stirring the mixture until the marshmallows are nearly all melted.
Quickly pour the warm marshmallow mixture over the kettle corn in the mixing bowl. Toss to coat using two large spoons.
Line two large foil-lined baking sheets with foil.
Spray liberally with nonstock spray. Spread the warm crunch and munch mixture out over the foil.
Immediately sprinkle generously with a bit of kosher salt and the chunks of Snickers bars, gently pressing them into the warm mixture a bit so they stick.
Let the crunch and munch fully cool, then pull it apart a bit to make it easier for guests to grab-and-go when snacking.
If desired, Salted Kettle Corn Crunch and Munch can also be formed into popcorn balls while the mixture is still warm.
Why does the recipe instruct to cook the butter to golden brown and nutty in aroma?
This step is what’s called “browning” the butter. This adds an extra profile to the crunch and munch that is richer, deeper and more intense in flavor.
How many popcorn balls will this recipe make?
If you use about 1 cup of kettle corn crunch and munch per popcorn ball, you will get approx. 10 lightly packed popcorn balls out of one batch.
To hand out as treats, simply wrap each one in plastic wrap to make it easy.
If I can’t find kettle corn, can I substitute popcorn instead?
Yep, and it works just great. Follow the recipe exactly the same. You can also use caramel corn in this recipe, as well.
How should I store
Ours is usually gone in a flash, but if there’s leftovers, I just pop the crunch and munch into an air-tight container or freezer bags.
Which tools are helpful when making crunch and munch snack mix?
A deep mixing bowl – I prefer mixing bowls that have a silicone handle grip and also a silicone bottom. The silicone makes it easier to hold onto the bowl and also keeps it in place better on the counter as you’re working. I also like how this set nests together for storage.
Silicone Spatula Spoons – Of all the tools in my kitchen, silicone spatula spoons are what I use the most. They make stirring and sautéing a breeze and I love all the pretty silicone colors available. Silicone spatula spoons are completely heat-proof so they won’t melt, even when used over high temperatures. I like to have different sizes on hand for different kitchen tasks – soooo handy!
Large stainless steel serving spoons – you’ll need large spoons for tossing the kettle corn with the marshmallow mixture. I find stainless steel spoons work better for tossing than the silicone spatula spoons since the metal is thinner and causes less damage to the crunch and munch.
Rimmed baking sheet – Heavy-duty bakeware is essential for proper browning. I like aluminum baking sheets with a rimmed edge, 13×18 inches in size.
