When someone suggested using cookie butter spreads as cinnamon roll topping ideas, I realized that puff pastry would be perfect for making tender, golden brown pastry swirls.
I had to try it, and before I knew it, Biscoff cinnamon rolls were born! If you like these viral cinnamon rolls, try our cinnamon rolls with heavy cream, too!

Ingredients
- Biscoff Creamy Cookie Butter Spread: ย Cookie butter is a creamy, sweet, spreadable paste from ground Biscoff spice cookies. It looks like peanut butter in color and consistency but is much sweeter and richer in flavor.
- Jus-Roll Puff Pastry: You can now purchase refrigerated puff pastry dough at most larger grocery stores. You’ll find it near the pie crusts in the refrigerated section at your grocery. It’s much more handy and easier to manage than frozen puff pastry.
- Powdered sugar: This is an optional ingredient, but it makes the cinnamon rolls look very pretty when sprinkled over the top. Diced fresh fruit, such as strawberries or peaches, can be added to make the cinnamon rolls look even more festive for serving.

Tips
- If you’d like to add some crunch, sprinkle the cookie butter spread with some finely diced pecans or walnuts before rolling up the dough.
- Don’t remove the puff pastry from refrigeration until you’re immediately ready to make the cinnamon rolls. Puff pastry is easiest to work with while it’s freshly chilled. As it comes closer to room temperature the dough becomes too soft and won’t hold it’s shape as well.
- I like using my pizza cutter to cut the puff pastry into strips – it works quick and slick!
How to make Biscoff Cookie Butter Cinnamon Rolls
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Unpackage and unroll the puff pastry sheet onto a clean work surface sprinkled with a tiny bit of flour.
Spread the cookie butter over one-half of the puff pastry rectangle.

Fold the puff pastry over the top of the cookie butter spread. Using a pizza cutter, cut the puff pastry into 6 equal strips.

Twist each of the six strips.

Form cinnamon rolls by placing the twisted strip into each of the greased cups of a 6-muffin tin, wrapping it around on top of itself. (The muffin cups hold the dough into place just perfectly while the rolls bake!)

Bake the cinnamon rolls, uncovered, for 20-25 minutes on the center oven rack or until golden brown on the top and bottom.

Remove the cinnamon rolls from the oven, letting them rest for 5 minutes in the muffin tin; transfer the rolls to a platter.
Warm a couple tablespoons of cookie butter in the microwave for 15-20 seconds; drizzle over each cinnamon roll. Sprinkle with a bit of powdered sugar, if desired.
To make the rolls look even more festive for serving, top with a bit of diced fresh fruit, such as strawberries or peaches.

Can I make my own puff pastry?
It’s far easier to purchase puff pastry for special baked goods. It’s a laborious task that is very time-consuming.
The process involves loads of rolling and folding on repeat until you’ve got hundreds of layers, plus the dough has to chill in between each step. If you feel up for the task, try this puff pastry recipe.

What is cookie butter?
Hi Jo Ann –
Biscoff makes this product and itโs literally called cookie butter on the label. Itโs similar in texture to peanut butter yet maybe a bit thicker – totally yummy!
