Ingredients needed to make marinated air fryer steak bites recipe

  • Sirloin steak: You can use any type of steak in this recipe. We found that this method makes sirloin steak fun to eat and it’s one of the most economical steaks available for a family. You can also use steak tips.
  • Soy sauce: I typically use low-sodium soy sauce, but use what’s on hand in your fridge. You can substitute Tamari sauce, if desired.
  • Vegetable oil: Substitute your favorite oil for the marinade.
  • Worcestershire sauce: Yep, WOOZY sauce gives the marinade a good shot of savory, salty, and savory flavor all at once…whether you can pronounce it or not.
  • Seasonings: Garlic powder (or granulated garlic), Italian seasoning, dried parsley (may substitute minced fresh Italian parsley, if desired)

How to Make Marinated Steak Bites

Place all the cubes of steak into a gallon bag that has been placed into a medium-sized mixing bowl.

I have found it’s very worthwhile to take the extra step of placing the bag of marinade and steak bites into a bowl.

This way, if there are any leaks (and there always are!), they are contained in the bowl instead of all over your fridge.

In a small mixing bowl, combine the marinade ingredients; pour over the cubes of steak in the gallon bag.

Marinade added to the cubed of steak in a gallon bag.

Massage the marinade to combine all the ingredients, moving the steak around in the marinade as you go; press all the air out of the gallon bag and seal tightly.

Allow the steak bites to marinate on the counter in the bowl at room temperature for 30 minutes.

Or place the bowl of steak into the fridge and let them marinate up to 24 hours for added flavor.

Place the bowl containing the bag of marinade and steak onto the lowest rack of the fridge.

This way there’s no cross-contamination of bacteria from raw food (steak and juices) to other foods in the fridge.

Remove the steak bites from the marinade; pat dry if needed.

Preheat the air fryer at 400 degrees F. for 1-2 minutes.

Spread the steak bites out over the air fryer rack so that they aren’t touching each other.

When air frying the steak bites, be sure they aren’t crowded so the air flow can circulate around each piece of steak, getting each one nicely caramelized.

Work in batches as you cook the steak bites so you don’t overcrowd.

Air fry the steak bites for 2-3 minutes per side, for medium-rare.

Let the steak bites rest for 1-2 minutes in the air fryer so they are extra tender.

Serve at once!

If you want a sauce to serve with the steak bites, boil the marinade for 2-3 minutes in a saucepan on the stove. Serve on the side or drizzle right over the whole pile of steak bites on a platter.

Which Air Fryer Do You Need to Make Steak Bites?

We really, really like our Cuisinart air fryer. We’ve had it for over 5 years and because we use it so often, I feel really good about the prime real estate is requires on my cabinet.

I have now added a great basket-style air fryer to our repertoire. Once I learned how great a whole chicken cooked in the air fryer is, I had to have one! We have the 6-quart Cosori air fryer and it’s also big enough to cook a chuck roast.

I had no idea we would use our air fryers so much. Because my family is so busy (just as every family in America is) we often have to eat in shifts.

This makes the air fryer ideal since you can easily reheat leftovers in a flash and the air fryer makes everything nice and crispy again – we love it, especially for reheating PIZZA. Yowza….you won’t believe it.

What to serve with steak bites

Steak bites are best served with your favorite sides. Ours include Air fryer broccoli, air fryer Brussels sprouts, or smashed garlic potatoes.
