Ingredients and Substitutions

For a complete list of ingredients, see the detailed recipe card below.
- Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls: Youโll need 2 cans (10 cinnamon rolls) to fill a 9×13 pan, and I used original. As these bake, they will completely fill the pan.
- Pillsbury Ready-To-Bake Sugar Cookies: These come 24 to a package, so youโll have some leftover to bake or to freeze. Or, if you already have some leftover baked sugar cookies, feel free to use those.
- Red and White Sprinkles: I had Valentineโs Day in mind when creating this recipe, so use whatever color sprinkles are holiday- or season-appropriate.
- International Delight Frosted Sugar Cookie Creamer: Since this creamer is not available year-round, make your own by combining whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk, and almond extract. I add a tiny pinch of kosher salt to round out all the sweetness of the sweetened condensed milk. Do not use sugar-free creamer in this recipe.
- For the Frosting: You’ll use both containers of icing that come with the Grands Cinnamon Rolls, combined with powdered sugar and the reserved sugar cookie creamer.
Step by Step Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 1: Remove 6 of the sugar cookies from the package. Place the sprinkles into a small flat bowl. Using your palms, roll them into balls and then roll each one in the bowl of sprinkles. Place the cookies onto a baking sheet.

Step 2: Bake according to the package directions. Cool completely. (I always bake extra cookies so we have a few for the cinnamon rolls AND for snacking!)

Step 3: In a small mixing bowl, prepare the sugar cookie creamer by whisking together the whipping cream, sweetened condensed milk, almond extract, and kosher salt, if using. Reserve and set aside 1/4 cup of this creamer mixture for making the frosting.

Step 5: Bake the cinnamon rolls, uncovered, on the center oven rack for 30-35 minutes, or until lightly golden brown and set at the center.

Step 6: Using your fingers, crumble the cooked sugar cookies into small pieces and set aside.

Step 7: While the cinnamon rolls are baking, make the frosting. Combine the containers of icing that came with each package of cinnamon rolls, along with the reserved 1/4 cup of sugar cookie creamer, powdered sugar, and kosher salt, if using. If you want thicker icing, you can add a bit more powdered sugar. Gently frost the warm cinnamon rolls with two-thirds of the prepared frosting.

Step 8: Using your fingers, sprinkle the sugar cookie crumbles over the frosting, using as much or as little as you prefer. Warm the remaining half of the frosting for 10 seconds in the microwave. Slowly pour the warm frosting in a drizzle over the sugar cookies and the cinnamon rolls. Garnish with a few more sprinkles, if desired. Serve at once while warm.
My Recipe Tips
- These cinnamon rolls are best served warm and fresh from the oven.
- You can customize them for whatever season or holiday you’re celebrating, just by swapping out the sprinkles in the sugar cookies.
- Avoid sugar free creamers for this recipe. You’ll want to use the real thing to get great flavor.
