Don’t you just love trifles? I adore how easy they are to make, and also how lovely and elegant they turn out. This easy recipe makes a decadent dessert that your guests will think took hour upon hour of painstaking work. (Ha!)

What to Love About Trifles –

  • They can be customized in a jillion ways.
  • Make individual trifles in wine glasses or a single, large trifle like this recipes shows.
  • They are quick and easy to make.  Most of the time required for making a trifle is for chilling them in the fridge.

Easy and Helpful Recipe Tips for Tasty Trifles –

  1. When possible, prepare trifles in a tall, clear trifle dish. This makes them looks EXTRA beautiful and really showcases the tasty ingredients you’re about to enjoy. Or you can make small, individual trifles in Mason Jars or disposable clear plastic cups… perfect for parties and bridal or baby showers.
  2. Keep the sides clean! When filling the trifle dish with ingredients, there’s nothing more disappointing than a big smudge on the glass.A simple trick for ingredients like pudding or whipped topping is to use a wide-mouthed piping bag (or a ziploc bag with the corner cut off.) Simply reach down into the dish and squirt the pudding out in a circular motion until you’re ready for the next layer. If you do get some on the glass, don’t worry.  Just wipe it off with a paper towel before moving on.
  3. Trifles are so easy to customize with your favorite ingredients. During the holidays I love this Peppermint Chocolate Trifle. Trifles are also great for showing off fresh, seasonal fruits with layers of yogurt and cake.I also enjoy making savory trifles, like this Delta Cornbread Salad.

  1. I don’t see anywhere where it talks about the brownies? Is it a recipe that uses an 8×8 panorama 9 x13. Just trying to figure out the amount of brownies used.

    1. Hi Robin – I’m so sorry. Good grief – how did I manage to leave out THAT ingredient??? I’ve updated the recipe. In the meantime, you’ll need 1 standard box of brownie mix, prepared and baked according to package directions.
