Air Fryer Cinnamon Rolls

I have to admit that baking cinnamon rolls in my air fryer isn’t automatic. My go-to has long been my oven.

But after seeing all the delicious things I could cook in my air fryer, I realized that making these shouldn’t be any different! My first batch baked in mere minutes was exciting. I’ve been doing it ever since.

Yes, my family still wants my traditional homemade cinnamon rolls and the Tik Tok cinnamon rolls with heavy cream. But when we need something right now, air fryer cinnamon rolls are the new ticket to keeping my guys happy.

How to Cook Cinnamon Rolls in the Air Fryer

Unpackage the cinnamon rolls, reserving the container of icing that comes with them.

If you like a lot of icing, try making some extra of my favorite cinnamon roll frosting.

Brush the air fryer rack with a bit of oil using your favorite silicone pastry brush.

Place the cinnamon rolls onto the greased air fryer rack. Leave as much space around each one as possible for good air flow.

Bake for 6 minutes at 300 degrees F. or just until golden brown. Turn the air fryer completely off. Let the cinnamon rolls rest in the warm air fryer for 2 minutes. During this time, they will fully cook to the center.

How Long to Cook

When testing, I found my 6-quart Cosori basket style air fryer cooks them in 7 minutes at 300 degrees F. You may need to adjust the time depending on how your air fryer cooks.

Should I Flip

I have never flipped my cinnamon rolls to cook them in the air fryer. There’s nothing wrong with it if you do. Just know it will change the exterior appearance a bit as they cook. But as soon as you frost them, no one will be able to tell.

Pillsbury Grands Vs. Regular Pillsbury

Pillsbury Grands cinnamon rolls are nearly twice the size of regular Pillsbury cinnamon rolls and will cook differently in the air fryer.

Grands will take closer to 9-10 minutes in the air fryer (at 300 degrees F.). Make sure to adjust this recipe for them to be fully cooked to the center with a golden brown exterior.

How to Reheat Cinnamon Rolls

Wrap the cinnamon rolls in foil. Place the foil packet into the air fryer basket. Reheat for 2-3 minutes on 300 degrees F. or until warm at the center.

Do I Need to Preheat?

For pastry items and baked goods that cook within minutes, you don’t need to preheat the air fryer. However, when cooking meats like air fryer ground beef that require searing, do use a good preheat of 8-10 minutes at a high temperature.

What if the outside is overdone and the inside is raw?

This happens when the air fryer temperature is set too high. The outside cooks before the inside can. Using a 300 degree F. setting for air fryer cinnamon rolls works perfectly to cook the cinnamon rolls to the very center, without overcooking the outside.

Allowing the baked cinnamon rolls to rest in the warm air fryer for 2 minutes after they bake also helps the residual heat finish baking them so they are fully cooked at the center.

How do you know when they are done on the inside?

Because rolls are small, fully cooking them in the air fryer takes little time. If you’re worried they are still doughy in the center, take two forks and gently insert them into the center of a cinnamon rolls.

Pull the forks apart so you can see down inside the center of the roll. If you see a “bread” texture, the rolls are done. If you see “dough” texture, you need to bake the rolls a minute or two longer.

Can I bake these ahead of time?

You sure can (see above for how to reheat in the air fryer), but since they bake in just 6 minutes, do you really NEED to?
