Anyway, once I watched the assembly, I immediately knew I could tweak the recipe a bit to make it even more creamy and flavorful.
My family did an absolute back flip for this pasta dish, especially when I added the chicken sausage to make it a quick and easy main dish.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING BOURSIN TIK TOK PASTA
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Unwrap both packages of the Boursin cheese. In the center of a 2-quart casserole dish (8x11x3 inches), sprayed with nonstick spray, place both rounds of the Boursin, surrounding them with the grape tomatoes.
Drizzle a good turn of olive oil over the cheeses, then sprinkle the tomatoes with the fresh garlic, red pepper flakes, and Italian seasonings. Bake, uncovered, on the center rack of the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, cook the pasta until al dente, reserving 1 cup of the pasta water.
Slice the chicken sausages into coins, then cook a couple of minutes until the sausages are golden brown on both sides; reserve and keep warm.
As the chicken sausages brown, you can move them to edge of the skillet to allow more room in the center of the skillet for browning more of the sausages.
After removing the Boursin cheese and roasted tomatoes from the oven, use a wooden spoon or silicone spatula spoon to gently press down on the tomatoes until they burst open.
Fold the tomatoes and seasonings into the melted Boursin cheese, adding some of the reserved pasta water, only as needed, to make a creamy sauce.
Fold in the cooked penne pasta until well coated. Adjust with a bit more reserved pasta water, if needed.
Top the pasta with the browned chicken sausage coins, then with a generous sprinkle of grated Parmesan; garnish with a bit of chopped Italian parsley, if desired.
CAN I MAKE THIS RECIPE USING OTHER SHAPES OF PASTA?
Totally. You can use any shape of pasta in this pasta dish – elbow, shell, rotini…whatever. You could even use spaghetti pasta or angel hair pasta.
CAN I USE OTHER TYPES OF SAUSAGE IN THIS PASTA DISH?
Any kind of fully-cooked sausage works fine.
Smoked sausage, Kielbasa sausage, Polish sausage, or brats…heck you could even use hot dogs in this recipe, if you wanted to!
Also, I think this pasta dish would be tasty with cooked and crumbled Italian sausage added.
WHAT IS BOURSIN CHEESE?
Boursin cheese is a soft and creamy French cheese that comes in a variety of savory flavors. Boursin cheese is similar in texture to whipped cream cheese.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BOURSIN CHEESE AND CREAM CHEESE?
Because Boursin cheeses typically come seasoned, they are more flavorful than cream cheese. Boursin cheese is slightly more “crumbly” in texture than cream cheese.
WHERE DO I FIND BOURSIN CHEESE AT THE GROCERY STORE?
Typically, Boursin cheese is found in the specialty cheese and deli section.
WHAT DOES AL DENTE PASTA?
Al dente pasta is any type or shape of pasta that is cooked just until tender but is still a bit firm when bitten. Al dente is an Italian term that describes the perfect consistency of cooked pasta.
WHAT IS AL FRESCO CHICKEN SAUSAGE?
Al Fresco Chicken Sausage is a particular brand of chicken sausage that you will find near the other types of fully-cooked sausages at the grocery store, such as smoked sausage, kielbasa sausage, and polish sausage.
These sausages are usually in the deli meat case, near lunch meat and bacon, too.
I really like the Al Fresco Sweet Italian Style Chicken Sausage the best of their varieties available. Because it’s already fully cooked at purchase, it reheats really quickly when it’s time to make dinner – I love this!
WHY DO YOU BROWN THE CHICKEN SAUSAGES FIRST?
It’s important to cook the sausages by themselves in the air fryer so they can get nicely browned on the exterior.
This gives them a crispy texture and the browning (aka caramelization) adds TONS OF FLAVOR.
