Instructions
Prepare the Roasted Garlic Butter
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Peel and discard the papery outer layers of the head (bulb) of garlic, leaving intact the skins of the individual cloves of garlic.
Using a sharp knife, slice off about 1/4-inch of the top of the head garlic, exposing the individual cloves of garlic inside.
Place the head of garlic onto a sheet of foil, then top with a good drizzle of olive oil. Wrap the foil up and around the head of garlic.
Bake the head of garlic for 30-40 minutes or until the cloves feel soft when squeezed. Let the garlic cool slightly.
Squeeze the warm garlic out of the skin into a bowl; combine with softened butter and chopped Italian parsley until smooth.
Prepare the Bread and Shaved Steak
Using a serrated knife, slice the loaf of Italian bread in half lengthwise.
Place the bread halves, cut-side up, onto a baking sheet; spread the prepared butter over each one.
Toast the bread, uncovered, for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
Meanwhile, add a swish of olive oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat.
When the oil is nicely hot, add the shaved steak to the skillet, along with a generous shot of Worcestershire sauce and half of the red pepper flakes, if using.
Cook the steak for 6-8 minutes just until cooked throughout, or to your desired doneness, tossing occasionally as you go.
Prepare the Creamy Chipotle Sauce, optional, but sooo good!
In a mixing bowl, combine the Ranch dressing with the mayo and chipotles, stirring until smooth: store in the refrigerator until it's time to serve the steak sandwiches.
Assemble the Shaved Steak Sandwich
Pile the steak on top of each toasted bread half, then lay the Swiss cheese slices over the beef, shingling them on top of each other so that they overlap. Garnish the cheese with the remaining half of red pepper flakes, if using.
Place the sandwiches into the oven for 8-10 minutes, or just until the cheese is golden brown and bubbly.
Slice each sandwich into 3 wedges, as desired. Drizzle with creamy chipotle sauce, as desired and serve at once.
