Chip and Dip Day Tips!

Street corn dipNational Chip and Dip Day… Doesn’t that just sound delicious?! It’s coming on March 23rd, and to celebrate I busted out some of my favorite From the Land of Kansas dip mixes and the perfect Alma Cheese. I don’t care if you’re dipping chips, pretzels, veggies, fries, whatever! You need to put Dip Day on your calendar… it’s a great reason to celebrate! But really, dips are great for any occasion, so I wanted to share some special tricks to the perfect dip.
WIBW Dip Day!

Chef Alli’s Dip Tips:

  1. Rabbit Creek Gourmet creates some simple and delicious dip mixes. These are made of high-quality products that are now available all around the world. After all, great dip mixes are the “New Scratch Cooking!”
  2. For your cheese dips, it’s always best to shred your own cheese! Prepackaged cheeses have fillers that you don’t want in your dip. Plus, if you use a sharp cheddar you can still get all the flavor without using quite so much cheese (thus, cutting a few calories).
  3. Keep hot dips hot and cold dips cold! Hot dips are great in cast iron, you can use a small sterno pot, slow cookers and pressure cookers have low settings that will keep your dips warm as long as you need it! If you have a cold dip that is going to be out for a while, you might consider setting the bowl in a larger bowl of ice! This way you can enjoy your National Dip Day all day long!
  4. You can think outside the box when it comes to dipping! Thinly sliced veggie ‘chips’ are a great alternative to fried, salty chips. AND you still get to enjoy your dips… guilt-free! Pretzels. Apple slices. Crackers. Chunks of bread. Don’t be afraid to try new dippers on National Dip Day!
